Lexington County Coroner identifies person who died in Cayce pedestrian vs. vehicle incident
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has positively identified the person who died in a pedestrian vs. vehicle incident in the Cayce area, said the coroner’s office.
The collision happened on Wednesday, December 18, around 6 p.m. in the 2400 block of Charleston Highway in the Cayce area of Lexington County.
Coroner Fisher said the victim was identified as 91-year-old Joyce P. Backman, of Cayce, who was involved in a two-vehicle collision.
Backman and the other vehicle’s driver exited their vehicles and were hit by a third vehicle.
She was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the third vehicle was not injured and remained on scene after the incident.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the City of Cayce Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident.
