DJJ’s Lexington Office Hosts Back-to-School Bash

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – With school right around the corner, the city of Columbia wants the kiddies to be off to a good start.

Department of Juvenile Justice’s Lexington office is hosting a community back-to-school bash to help kids start the school year on a positive note.

The event is happening this Friday, August 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. You can join the party at 605 West Main Street in Lexington.

DJJ has partnered with several organizations including: Splash Omnimedia, Turning Pointe Youth Initiative, Pardon and Parole, SC Probation, Town of Lexington, DSS, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and many others to offer this fun-filled day of food and games.

There will be shaved ice, hot dogs, hamburgers and other food available at no cost. Backpacks filled with school supplies will be given out, as well as gently used clothes.

Free haircuts will be given to children by Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology.

Also, to add on to all this fun, the Columbia Fireflies mascot, Mason, will be hanging out at the party from 11 a.m. until noon.
