Santee Cooper CEO Announces Retirement

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–  The CEO of South Carolina’s state-owned utility is retiring after 35 years on the job.

Lonnie Carter announced his decision to step aside at Friday’s board meeting.

Carter’s retirement comes in the wake of the abandonment of construction on two nuclear reactors at the VC Summer nuclear facility in Fairfield County.

Close to 6,000 people lost their jobs following the abandonment decision.
