Crews Look for Father After 4-Year-Old Found Alone in Boat on Lake Murray

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO) – South Carolina authorities say they are searching for a man on Lake Murray after finding his 4-year-old daughter alone in a boat.

Department of Natural Resources spokesman Robert McCullough said crews are still looking for Durham Alexander Delaura, 35, of Lexington. Delaura was a Columbia Firefighter.

McCullough said someone on Panorama Point in Lexington County found the girl by herself in the boat around 7 p.m. Friday.

Authorities think Delaura fell from the boat less than an hour before his daughter  was found.

McCullough says crews are using boats and aircraft to look for Delaura and try to retrace the boat’s path to narrow down the search area for divers. McCullough says the girl is safe with her mother.

Crews have suspended the search for Saturday and will continue Sunday Morning.
