Staley announces transfer from USC freshman

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – The University of South Carolina women’s basketball team is dealing with a departure on their roster before the defending national champions’ season even begins.

Head coach Dawn Staley announced Wednesday that freshman guard Haley Troup is leaving the program before ever playing for the garnet and black. The Gadsden, Ala. native had signed with the Gamecocks in November of 2016 and went on the team’s summer exhibition trip to Japan.

Troup will transfer in the SEC to Missouri where she will sit out the upcoming season with four years of eligibility remaining.
