Deputies Capture Attempted Armed Robbery Suspect
RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WOLO)- Richland County Deputies arrested a man they say is responsible for an attempted armed robbery Thursday morning.
Deputies say Javarres F. Dinkins,21, attempted to rob a female in the 1400 block of Oakcrest Drive. The victim screamed and Dinkins fled from the area.
Dinkins was captured at 6:00am near the incident happened. Dinkins is facing multiple charges including attempted armed robbery, possession of weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a stolen gun.
Deputies say prior to the attempted armed robbery, Dinkins broke into a vehicle on Oakcrest Drive, and stole a handgun; it is the same handgun he used when he attempted to rob the female victim.
Sheriff Leon Lott continues to remind citizens to be mindful of your valuables in your vehicle. “Please take your valuables out of your car at night or put them in your trunk out of sight,” Lott said. “Also make sure you secure your vehicle by locking it.”
Dinkins has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
