TSA: Record number of weapons found at SC checkpoints
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The Transportation Security Administration says a record number of weapons were confiscated at checkpoints in South Carolina in 2024.
According to the TSA, 99 weapons were found in a carry-on luggage at airports across the state including 13 in Columbia.
To add some context other than that the agency says close to 8 million people departed an airport in the state in 2024.
The TSA says anyone caught trying to bring a weapon on board a flight could face a fine of up to 15 thousand dollars and potential criminal charges.
