Resident’s Tip Leads to Burglary Arrest in Richland County

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WOLO)- Thanks to a vigilant citizen, deputies were able to capture a man responsible for a string of burglaries.

William Curtis Young,40,is being charged with four counts of burglary, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of obtaining stolen goods under false pretenses, and felon in possession of firearms.

Richland County Deputies say, a concerned citizen in the Lake Catherine neighborhood saw two suspicious men and took pictures of the vehicle they were riding in, which aided in identifying the suspects.

Authorities say Young, was spotted waiting for his accomplice to pick him up on Old Woodlands Road after committing a burglary on Sallie Baxter Road. Young fled the area and was apprehended a short time later by Richland County Sheriff’s Department K-9.

Young led Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigators and Columbia Police Department investigators to additional homes he burglarized, and provided various locations where he sold jewelry and other stolen merchandise.

Deputies say Young is responsible for burglaries committed on Upper Pond Road,Kinlock Court,Formby Drive and Running Fox.

This investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are forthcoming; Young has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
