Officer Involved Shooting in Lexington Co.

Leesville, S.C. (WOLO)  The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a suspect after an officer-involved shooting this afternoon.

Investigators say it happened on Devil’s Backbone Rd.

According to Sheriff Jay Koon a deputy was flagged down about a suspicious person.

After a brief encounter, deputies say  the suspect pulled a gun and pointed it at the deputy who then fired his service weapon.

Investigators say the suspect fled into the woods.

Deputies do not know if the suspect was injured, the deputy was not hit.
