LCSD: Drugs, cash seized following high-speed car chase

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department

LEXINGTON, SC (WOLO) – Lexington County deputies arrested a 19-year-old  man who they say was in possession of marijuana and a large amount of cash when he was taken into custody after a high-speed chase early Thursday morning.

According to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, deputies attempted to pull over Terrance Kelvon Johnson at the intersection of Platt Springs Road and South Lake Drive just before 2 a.m. for driving without his headlights or taillights on.

“After giving a false name to the deputy who stopped him, Johnson drove away and initiated a pursuit,” Sheriff Koon said.

Johnson and a passenger led deputies on a 20-minute chase covering nearly 20 miles at speeds up to 100 miles per hour, according to Koon.

The pair allegedly got out of the car and ran away from deputies before they were apprehended and detained near Lexington Hills Parkway and Brevard Parkway.

Johnson is facing multiple charges to include: with failure to stop for blue lights, providing false information to police and the possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, according to arrest warrants.

Koon said deputies found 29 grams of marijuana and more than $4,000.

The passenger was released with no charges, Koon said.

Johnson’s being held in the Lexington County Detention Center waiting a bond hearing.
