Outlet mall suggested as site for Catawba bingo

SANTEE, S.C. (AP) — The owner of the nearly-vacant Santee Outlet Mall hopes the Catawba Indian Nation can use it for a high-stakes bingo operation. The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/19U7sV3 ) owner Herman Lischkoff is looking for a new use for the 150,000-square foot mall that now has only one store. Lischkoff points out the tribe recently received state permission to operate a high stakes bingo operation in York County, where it operated one previously. Under a land settlement, the tribe may open another bingo hall somewhere else in the state. Lischkoff has written the tribe. Catawba Indian Nation spokeswoman Elizabeth Harris says the tribe is now focused on opening the York County site. She says if the tribe decides to pursue a second location, they will contact Lischkoff. ___ Information from: The Times & Democrat, http://www.timesanddemocrat.com
