PUERTO RICO (WOLO) – Hurricane Maria slammed Puerto Rico as the most powerful storm to strike the US territory in nearly 90 years.

It caused widespread damage and knocked out electricity to the entire island.

Nine people in the Caribbean have died from the storm and that number is expected to rise.
