Building Better Communities announces financial support to people impacted by gun violence initiative

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A local organization is working to help victims of gun violence.

Building Better Communities announced an initiative to provide financial support to those impacted by gun violence.

The group hopes to be able to help victims relocate, make repairs to their property if it’s damaged by gunfire and meet other critical needs.

According to a press release, recent data shows nearly 500 person-hit shootings have occurred since 2015 in the city alone

The group held a press conference on Monday, Feb. 3, to announce the new initiative.
