One dead after Saturday afternoon collision on Hwy 178 near Orangeburg: SCHP

 

One person is dead after a two-vehicle collision in Orangeburg County Saturday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, February 8, a Honda Accord and Ford Expedition collided traveling opposite directions on Highway 178 near Kennerly Road, about half a mile west of Orangeburg.

The driver of the Accord succumbed to their injuries on the scene, according to SCHP, while the driver of the Expedition was not injured. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles, according to officers.

Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle identified the person as Shedrick Calloway, Jr., 28, of Rambling Ridge Road.

Calloway died of blunt force injuries due to the motor vehicle collision, says the coroner’s office.

SCHP said the incident is under investigation.
