RCSD: Individual hit by car following traffic stop

Deputies say the individual pulled over to the shoulder and immediately got out and ran across the interstate.

Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Richland Co. deputies say around 12pm Friday RCSD initiated a traffic stop on I-20 Westbound near MM 74 which is not far from the I-277 interchange.

Deputies say the individual pulled over to the shoulder and immediately got out and ran across the interstate.

They say the individual was hit by a vehicle in the Eastbound lane.

According to deputies they were not chasing the individual when they were struck.

Troopers with the Highway Patrol say the individual died at the scene.

The Richland Co. Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Tyrance Wise, 46, of Winnsboro.

The incident remains under investigation.
