Suspect Dead after Deputy-Involved Shooting

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed one of its deputies shot and killed a man, who led them on a chase Monday night.

Around 10pm, deputies say they tried to stop a suspicious vehicle around Decker Boulevard. The suspect then fled to East Boundary Road where he allegedly got out of his vehicle and started firing at deputies.

A spokesperson for the department says deputies returned fire, striking and killing the man.

The suspect has not been identified at this time.

It’s also not clear…at this time…why the suspect reportedly took off in the first place.
