Child in critical condition after 2-car collision at I-20 and Spears Creek Church Road

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The Columbia Police Dept’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating a serious 2-car collision that happened at I-20 and Spears Creek Church Road, said the dept.

Officers were dispatched to the location shortly before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Columbia PD said the passengers which included a child were taken to a hospital.

The child remains in critical condition, no one else received serious injuries.

Investigators said the child and a relative were driving southbound when they were hit by another vehicle traveling northbound.

Also, investigators believe the driver failed to yield the right of way.
