Lexington County firefighter charged with burglary

SWANSEA, S.C. (AP) — A Lexington County firefighter has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested on burglary charges. Fifty-seven-year-old Ben Tillman Crider Jr. of Swansea was charged earlier this week with second-degree burglary and petit larceny of less than $2,000. County administrator Joe Mergo says Crider is a paid firefighter and is on leave. Crider is accused of breaking into his landlord’s warehouse and taking about $1,300 worth of merchandise. It was not clear if Crider has an attorney.
