Sumter Co. deputies investigating after report of attempted suicide at overpass
SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County deputies are investigating after there was an attempted suicide on Sunday afternoon, according to the dept.
Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says on Sunday, Feb. 23, around 3:50 p.m. the dispatch got a call about a male jumping off the Highway 378 Bridge over North Main Street.
When deputies arrived to the scene, a 46-year-old was found conscious and being treated by Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
Witnesses reported seeing the person hanging from the bridge before he was found seriously injured on North Main Street, says SCSO.
The person was airlifted to Prisma Health Richland Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
The incident remains under investigation by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
