3 Dreher H.S. students hailed heroes
Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — Three Dreher High School students who helped a woman when her kitchen caught fire are being recognized for their bravery. The student’s actions were acknowledged by the Columbia-Richland Fire Department Tuesday night.
Micah Roth, Eliza Jones and Hampton Rogers were on a run for their track and field team on February 10, when they noticed smoke coming from a home in Columbia.
One of the students used a fire extinguisher to help keep the fire from spreading. Another student tried to get the homeowner’s dog to safety.
the students stayed with the woman until the fire department arrived and rescued the dog. We spoke with the three students on how they felt about being called heroes.
The honoring took place during a board meeting at Columbia High School where the homeowner also appeared to give her thanks to the trio.
