Fairfield County Coroner identifies victim after fatal fire
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill has named an individual that was found after a fatal fire in the Carlisle area on Wednesday.
According to Coroner Hill, Fairfield County Fire Service was dispatched to Cool Branch Road in Carlisle in relation to a structure fire on Wednesday afternoon, Feb.26, in which they were told an individual was not accounted for.
Once on scene, firefighters extinguished the fire and found the missing individual. The Fairfield County Coroner’s Office and Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department were notified.
SLED was also called in to help with the investigation. The missing individual was identified as Richard Morrison, age 77.
An autopsy has been scheduled with Newberry Pathology to determine his cause of death. Fairfield County Coroner’s Office, SLED and the sheriff’s department will continue to investigate.
