Video:Successful Saturday For SC Schools

(WOLO) — South Carolina colleges hit their stride in week five of the college football season.  Nearly all SC schools added wins to their schedules.

SC State opened up its MEAC schedule with a 30-6 home win over Hampton.  The Bulldog defense held the Pirates to just 229 total yards in the game.

Several other SC FCS schools improved to 5-0 on the year.  Coastal Carolina stayed undefeated with a 53-28 win at Elon.  Charleston Southern improved to 5-0 with a 27-24 win at Appalachian St. 

Furman won its Southern Conference opener at The Citadel 24-17.  Presbyterian lost at home to first-year program Charlotte 45-21. 

in Division II, Newberry improved to 4-0 on the season with a 24-10 at home over Mars Hill.  Benedict dropped to 2-2 on the season with a loss in its SIAC opener, 35-30 to Ft. Valley St.
