Irmo councilman arrested, facing sexual criminal conduct with a minor charges

According to a booking report from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Erik Sickinger is charged with sexual criminal conduct with a minor.

The Town of Irmo is responding after a Irmo councilman was arrested.

According to a booking report from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Erik Sickinger is charged with sexual criminal conduct with a minor, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of luring a child.

Sickinger was named councilman in November of 2020 and was named mayor pro-tem in 2023.

In a statement from the Town of Irmo, officials say they are aware that Sickinger was arrested by SLED.

The statement goes on to say that the town has been informed that Sickinger was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center and that the charges against him are unrelated to his role as a council member.
