Fairfield Co. deputies searching for person accused of robbery

 

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a person accused of a Sunday robbery, said the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said around 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, deputies responded to a robbery at a State Highway 215 South rural gas station known as Monticello EZ Mart, also nicknamed “the tackle-box.”

According to investigators, the person entered the store around 8:38 p.m., and left the store by 8:40 p.m.

The person is also accused of announcing the robbery to the store clerk and pointing an object to signify he was armed.

The clerk opened cash registers and the person took money from two registers before leaving southbound on foot into the tree line.

Surveillance footage caught the person wearing all black clothing, including a black ski mask, black hoodie, black pants, black sneakers, and black garden/work gloves.

Investigators believe the person is a slender male, and was seen wielding an object in his right hand, covered by a black plastic bag, presented as a firearm.

The clerk was taken to Fairfield ER by EMS for shock but is not believed to have been physically injured.

The store owner reported cash stolen from the cash registers during the incident which was captured on video.
