FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– In Fairfield County, deputies are pursuing arrest warrants for charges after someone abandoned three puppies on the side of the road over the weekend.

Investigators say Sunday afternoon, they received a report of animal abandonment on Old Camden Road around 1 p.m.

Deputies say they found a crate with three puppies inside without food or water.

According to investigators, one of the puppies had already died and a second one died at an area veterinary hospital.

Authorities say suspects have admitted to leaving the dogs there on Saturday and deputies are pursuing charges of ill-treatment of animals, and abandonment of animals under South Carolina law.

The case remains under investigation.
