Airline ticket sales down due to fear of flying

(CNN)– Two airlines say fear of flying is pushing ticket sales down in the wake of multiple crashes.

Delta’s CEO says two crashes are likely at least partly behind the travel pullback airlines are seeing this year.

He pointed to a non-fatal crash in which a Delta flight flipped upside down upon landing in Toronto last month.

He also pointed to the fatal collision of an American Airlines flight with a military helicopter in D.C.

Meanwhile, the CEO of American Airlines says his airline’s crash was a major factor in reduced revenue forecasts for the quarter.
