Gun safety advocates rally at SC State House

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– At the State House on Thursday, March 13, gun safety advocates gathered there this afternoon.

Members of the groups; Moms Demand Action, Students Demand Action, and Every-town for Gun Safety are calling on lawmakers to pass the so called Charleston Loophole which allows gun purchases to move forward by default after three business days even if a background check has not been completed.

This June 17, will mark 10 years since a white supremacist killed 9 people inside Mother Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston.

The murderer in that case would not have been able to purchase a gun had the loophole not existed, according to officials.
