Forest Acres Police: 1 arrested after domestic situation turns into deadly early morning shooting

FOREST ACRES, S.C. (WOLO)– Forest Acres Police Department gave an update on a deadly early morning shooting.

Police say a domestic violence situation ended in a deadly early hours Thursday morning shooting.

On March 13, around 2:25 a.m. Forest Acres officers responded to a shooting that happened inside of a home.

When officers reached the location, 52-year-old Mauricio Garcia and 44-year-old Kristen Burger were found inside of the home.

Kristen Burger is accused of murdering her boyfriend Mauricio Garcia at his Partridge Drive home.

Garcia was later announced as dead at a nearby hospital.

An autopsy performed on Thursday morning by the Richland County Coroner’s Office found that Garcia died due to a single gunshot wound to the head, say police.

Burger was arrested in connection with the shooting and charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon during a violence crime.

Berger has prior 2 convictions in relation to domestic violence, and the Thursday morning altercation will be her third incident.
