SC House passes $14 billion budget

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– House members at the State House have approved the $14 billion spending plan for South Carolina.

According to the Associated Press, it includes a $1500 raise for all teachers, and freezing tuition for in-state students currently in state universities.

Also, it includes $220 million to pay for Hurricane Helene damage, and $50 million to help the South Carolina Department of Transportation for what it spent to clear up the roads from the hurricane.

The state would also pay $89 million on health insurance premiums for state employees but will not cover the entire cost.

The budget plan now heads to the Senate.
