RCSD: Mother arrested after leaving toddler home alone

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County deputies have arrested a mother for leaving her toddler home alone, said RCSD.

Last night on March 17,  around 10. p.m., deputies responded to the 1300 block of Oakcrest Drive in response to a tip a toddler was alone in a parking lot.

Richland County Sheriff’s Department Deputies were informed by the caller that the toddler wandered up to the porch looking for their mom.

A further investigation revealed that 32-year-old Raven Burgess left the child home alone and was also in the presence of drugs.

Burgess was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child and taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

The child was taken into emergency protective custody.
