SCDEW: Record number of employment in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A record number of people are working in South Carolina.

According to the Department of Employment and Workforce more than 2.4 million people are employed in the state.

Officials say in January the number of people employed in the state increased by more than 40,000 compared with December.

Department Director William Floyd says increases in construction, manufacturing, and retail trade, show South Carolina is continuing to experience stable levels of growth consistent with a healthy labor market.
