Columbia Police arrest man accused of fatal overnight shooting

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia Police have arrested a man accused of a fatal shooting on Monday.

24-year-old Benjamin Patterson Jr. is charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

According to police, Patterson shot a 58-year-old man on Floyd Drive overnight around 3:30 a.m. on Monday, March 17.

Patterson was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
