Highway Patrol investigates deadly Lancaster Co. accident

Lancaster Co, SC (WOLO) — The South Carolina Department of Public Safety is investigating a deadly accident that took place Wednesday morning around 9:25 am.

According to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt there were two cars involved in the collision that took place along South Carolina Highway 5 which is Rock Hill Highway near Old Hickory Road.

Master Trooper Bolt tells ABC Columbia News two cars were involved including a 2000 Freightliner Tractor Trailer, and a 2008 Honda Minivan. Officials say the the tractor trailer was driving west along SC-Highway 5, while the minivan was traveling in the opposite direction east along the same highway. Authorities say two cars vehicles collided head on injuring the driver the freightliner who was transported to an area hospital. SCHP says the driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

This accident remains under investigation.
