State Treasurer Curtis Loftis rejects calls for his removal by a Senate Finance Subcommittee

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– State Treasurer Curtis Loftis is rejecting calls for his removal by a Senate Finance Subcommittee.

This is after a controversial $1.8 billion accounting error where some lawmakers blamed Loftis in part.

Loftis is however, welcoming calls for the inspector general to review the books and operations of the Treasurer’s Office.

Loftis also released a statement claiming that calls for his removal are politically motivated and says his focus is protecting the hard-working taxpayers, not the interests of the political elite.
