Sumter County woman accused of shooting from vehicle

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Sumter County woman has been arrested after a deputy saw her discharge a handgun from her vehicle, said the sheriff’s office.

SCSO Deputies said around 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, a Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputy witnessed gunshots being fired from a vehicle passing the intersection of Highway 378 and Cherryvale Drive.

Deputies performed a felony traffic stop on the vehicle, and during the investigation, Jada Mya Wise confessed to deputies to shooting a gun out the window of the vehicle as they drove.

The gun was taken from the vehicle and entered into evidence.

Wise was charged with public disorderly conduct and taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

She was later released on a personal recognizance bond of $257.50.
