Saluda County coroner identifies 2 people found shot at Darling Ingredients, case of death revealed

 

SALUDA COUNTY, S.C.  (WOLO)– The coroner has identified two people who were shot at a plant in Saluda County, said the coroner’s office.

According to investigators, they responded to the shooting at Darling Ingredients in Ward around 6 p.m. on Monday, March 31.

The Saluda County Coroner has identified the victims as 52-year-old Kimberly Waters Leon, and 44-year-old Willie James Hopkins Jr.

Deputies say this was an isolated incident and there’s no threat to the public.

The Saluda County Sheriff’s Office and the Saluda County Coroner’s Office says the case was determined to be a murder-suicide.

Investigators say Leon was shot multiple times by Hopkins before he turned the gun on himself.

Also, investigators say the two had been involved in a relationship prior to the shooting.
