Norovirus infects 240 people on cruise

(CNN)– More than 240 people on board a luxury cruise ship have gotten sick with a highly contagious stomach bug called Norovirus.

The Centers for Disease Control and Protection reported the outbreak aboard Queen Mary 2.

The ship is due to return to England on April 6, after a four-week transatlantic cruise to the Caribbean.

The CDC said infected passengers have been quarantined and the ship’s crew has increased cleaning on board.

The outbreak comes on the heels of the worst year for cruise ship-based gastrointestinal outbreaks in over a decade, according to CDC data.
