Owner Decides to Close Local Bar Indefinitely

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – We’re learning a last-ditch effort to save a local bar in Columbia’s Five Points will not pan out after all.

Late Friday night, the owner of The Library, Justin Kershner, told ABC Columbia News that despite paying a $19,000 dollar tax debt to the IRS, he will close his business indefinitely.

He says it was his decision alone to close.

The announcement comes days after Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said the library was contributing to gang activity in the area.

We’ll continue to follow this developing story and bring you more information as it becomes available.
