SCDNR reminds residents snakes will appear as weather warms up

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– With the weather warming up, that means snakes will be venturing out of hibernation.

According to the SC State Department of Natural Resources, South Carolina is home to 38 species of snake six of which are venomous.

Officials with SCDNR say if you are bitten by a snake and you don’t know what it is seek medical attention immediately.

They say most bites happen when people chose to interact with a snake, they say the best way to avoid being bitten if you see a snake is to leave it alone.
