Newberry County deputies arrest suspect for series of car thefts
NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Newberry County deputies have arrested a suspect for a series of car thefts.
Deputies say one of the stolen vehicles was spotted in the Belfast area, turning onto Moates Road.
After a search, deputies located the suspect one mile from the scene in a dense brush.
The suspect was identified as 43-year-old Julian Wertz who was out on bond in Greenwood County for a similar theft.
Deputies say Wertz was living out of his car on property owned by a Timber Asset Company.
He was arrested for two counts of motor vehicle theft and resisting arrest.
