Local Living: Spring Fling, Heroes and Villains Disney Costume, “War Songs” Music Festival, Lower Richland Sweet Potato Festival

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— In today’s look at Local Living, you can adopt a furry friend this spring.

Columbia Animal Services is hosting their “Spring Fling” adoption special this week.

Now through Saturday, April 22, all pet fees are just $20.

The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

The “Heroes and Villains Disney Costume” exhibit is coming soon to the SC State Museum.

The showcase features more than 70 costumes, from characters like Cinderella, Maleficent, Mary Poppins and more.

The exhibit is open from May 3 through October 26.

Tickets are available online on the museum’s website.

 

The South Carolina Military Museum is hosting the “War Songs” Music Festival this Saturday, April 26.

It’s from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum on National Guard Road.

You can enjoy a wide variety of live performances from Revolutionary War-era strings to bluegrass and brass bands.

The festival commemorates the 250th anniversary of the raising of the first continental regiments during the American Revolutionary War.

It’s free to attend.

 

Don’t miss South Carolina’s “sweetest” party of the year.

The Lower Richland Sweet Potato Festival begins on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Hopkins Park on Lower Richland Boulevard.

There will be live music, games and all the sweet potato you can eat.

There will also be a free screenings for vision, prostate and more.

The event is free to attend.
