Two dead in overnight collision on I-95 in Orangeburg

ORANGEBURG CO., S.C. (WOLO) – South Carolina Highway Patrol says two people are dead following an overnight collision on I-95.

It happened on the northbound side near mile marker 87 around 12:45 a.m.

According to Master Trooper William Bennett, a 2019 Chevy Equinox and a dump truck were both driving north on I-95, when the Chevy struck the dump truck from behind.

The Chevy driver and the front passenger both died on scene from their injuries while the rear passenger was taken to the hospital.

The dump truck driver wasn’t hurt.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office is working on identifying the victims.

Highway Patrol is still investigating this incident.
