COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Steve Spurrier said at his weekly press conference Tuesday his young team is maximizing its talent this year as it heads into Saturday’s game against Coastal Carolina.
USC (8-2, 6-2 SEC) will kick off against Coastal (10-1) Saturday at 1 p.m. on pay-per-view TV.
The Ball Coach also announced Tuesday that back-up quarterback Dylan Thompson will play in the first or second quarter because he’s noticed that starting quarterback Connor Shaw plays better when he knows Thompson will get in the game. Spurrier also said running back Shon Carson will get his first career start. SEC leading rusher Mike Davis is nursing an ankle injury according to Spurrier and may not suit up Saturday against the Chanticleers. Fellow running back Brandon Wilds is also on the mend dealing with a hamstring injury.
