Strong Mayor Forum Breaks Down Facts

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., —
Wednesday night was one of the final four forums being held by the Municipal Association of South Carolina. the group has been presenting the different forms of government available to Columbia Citizens before they head to the polls December 3rd.
The switch from Weak to Strong Mayor form of government, that would give a City Mayor more authority has generated some questions from citizens who say they want to know how it is going to effect them. Still, one resident says he was disappointed by a bleak turn out in City Council chambers and hopes people come to vote armed with information.
“this is an important issue, people think it doesn’t effect them, but it does. I really thought it would have been packed in here tonight because some people do not know what the strong Mayor form of Government actually means.”
Mayor Steve Benjamin says communication, dialogue and education is always a good thing. regardless of what decision people make when they head to the polls, Mayor Benjamin says the most important thing to note is that voters now have a a choice.
