Sumter County traffic stop leads to two arrests

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)— The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says a routine traffic stop has led to the arrest of two men. According to deputies, they stopped a car after seeing the driver make a traffic violation. Authorities say the driver identified as Tyreko Brown was unable to show proof of insurance or proof of a valid driver’s license. While conducting that stop, deputies noticed an open container of alcohol inside of the car giving deputies the ability to make a probable cause search.

Inside of the car deputies say they discovered what they believed to be cocaine, crack cocaine, and a large amount of cash which was confiscated and entered into evidence.

Both Brown and his passenger Tyshawn Bell were arrested and taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. Bell was charged with Manufacture, Distribution, and Possession of Narcotics and denied bond.

Brown was charged with Driving Under Suspension and Released on a personal recognizance bond. Authorities say the case remains under investigation.
