Palmetto State Has 3 FCS Teams In The Playoffs

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — The Palmetto State has its share of top-notch football teams at the FCS level.
While the attention of most college football fans in the state will be centered on Saturday’s matchup between No. 6 Clemson and No. 10 South Carolina, three state schools will be playing in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs — the most of any state in the country.
Southern Conference co-champion Furman (7-5) will play at South Carolina State (9-3) of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, while Big South Conference co-champion Coastal Carolina (10-2) hosts Bethune-Cookman (10-2).
Alabama and Louisiana have two schools participating, the only others with multiple teams in the 24-team tournament.
Furman reached the playoffs after opening 2-4. The Paladins won five of their final six to win the league’s berth.
