Six car accident claims one life, three others hospitalized

Beaufort Co., SC (WOLO) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol says an accident in Beaufort County involving six cars has led to the death of one of the occupants. Corporal Nick Pye with SCHP says the accident took place around 12:30 Monday afternoon along U.S. 278 at the intersection of White Oak Circle.

Trooper Pye says a Ford Pickup, Toyota Pickup and Lexus Sedan were traveling westbound while a Nissan Sedan, Chevy Pickup and  Toyota Van were heading east on the same stretch of road. Officials say the Ford pick up struck the Toyota and Lexus causing the driver to veer off of the road.. Officials say the car then went onto the opposite side of the roadway struck the Nissan Sedan and Chevy Pickup which officials say caused the Toyota Van to crash into the Ford Pickup, and the Chevy Pickup.

Officials say one person inside of the Chevy Pickup died at the scene of the crash, while three others were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. The accident remains under investigation tonight.
