Celebrity roast to raise awareness, money for fight against sickle cell disease

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Midlands-based James R. Clark Memorial Sickle Cell Foundation is working to bring relief and education to South Carolina residents afflicted with sickle cell disease.

The foundation is hosting its 4th annual Charity Roast Wednesday, February 7 at the Brookland Baptist Church.

Special guests Senator Mia McLeod and Kirkman Finlay, III will be roasted by a panel including Bob Coble, Anton Gunn, Rep. Jay Lucas, Amelia Mckie, Trav Robertson, Rep. Todd Rutherford, and Joe Taylor, Jr. The reception starts at 6 p.m. with the roast taking place at 7 p.m.

All proceeds will go to deliver services to men, women and kids suffering from sickle cell disease and to provide community education, genetic screening, and counseling.
