RCSD: Two men arrested in connection with kidnapping, assault

 

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Deputies say two men have been arrested in connection with kidnapping, and assault.

RCSD says on May 24,  just before 9 p.m. in the Fairfield Road and Crane Church Road area, deputies were approached by a victim.

After speaking with the victim, deputies learned that the victim and his girlfriend had been walking near the 500 block of Crane Church Road when they were approached by two men, says RCSD.

The two men are accused of holding the male victim at gunpoint and assaulting him, then forcing the female victim into their vehicle before leaving the area.

Deputies were able to identify a potential suspect vehicle, a gray Cadillac Escalade, and circulated the area, searching for the suspects, according to the sheriff’s dept.

They located a vehicle that matched the suspect’s vehicle description and conducted a traffic stop on it.

Investigators say both suspects and the female victim were located in the vehicle during the traffic stop.

The female victim suffered a head wound and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The male victim refused treatment at the scene.

During a search of the suspect’s vehicle, deputies also found drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Johnny Young is being charged with kidnapping, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, pointing firearm at another person, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, assault and battery 1st degree.

Young was also served an outstanding bench warrant from family court in Kershaw County.

Shawn Campbell is being charged with kidnapping, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, assault and battery 1st degree, and possession of crack cocaine.

Both men were taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and denied bond.
