Major Consumer recall: FDA says recalled tomatoes could cause risk of death

FDA upgrading an ongoing recall of "H&C Farms Label" tomatoes. Crysty Vaughan has details.

(CNN)–(ABC COLUMBIA) — A major recall, the FDA is upgrading an ongoing recall of “H&C Farms Label” tomatoes in three states, including South Carolina due to a salmonella threat.

This is the agency’s most severe warning about the tomatoes, distributed by Williams Farms Repack LLC.
The FDA’s class 1 warning means people could become seriously ill or potentially die if they eat the product.
The tomatoes were distributed between April 23-April 28 to stores in South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina.

The FDA site reports “Williams Farms Repack LLC is recalling Tomatoes sizes; 4×5 2 layer, 60ct 2layer, 3ct trays in the Williams Farms Repack label, and 5×6 25lb, 6×6 25lb H&C Farms Label, due to a potential contamination of Salmonella.”
